SUMIYA seica is located right by Takayama's sightseeing spots. Enjoy some personal time at a renovated traditional townhouse you can book all to yourselves.: SUMIYA seica is in Gifu, a prefecture in the center of Japan.
It offers great access to Kanazawa and the World Heritage Site Shirakawago.
It's in an extremely convenient location,

Takayama's old town developed as a town of merchants, and the streets are lined with residences and other buildings that were built from the late Edo to the Meiji period.
Hida Folk Village15 minutes by bus

This outdoor museum features traditional houses that once shaped the rural landscape, such as gassho- and kure-roofed houses.
Takayama Jinya13 minutes on foot

In the Edo period, Takayama Jinya was a government office where officials handled the affairs of the community. Takayama Jinya is the only government building left from that period.

All rooms face the two terraces, and showcase Japan's four seasons.
You can enjoy playing Western card games and Japanese ones like karuta
and Hyakunin Isshu in the library-living room on the second floor.
You will also find books there about Hida-Takayama, architecture, design, photos, literature, and so on.
The two terraces inside and outside are great places
to feel the four seasons and experience the lives of people in Takayama.

Entrance / vestibule

Open the antique cellar door, and you'll be greeted by a glass relief and flowers arranged to show you how very welcome you are.

Outdoor bath

The outdoor bath is big enough for an adult to comfortably lie down in. Relish the local sake while admiring our Momiji Terrace.

We don't serve dinner at SUMIYA seica.
We'll prepare delicious food for you in the morning: freshly made premium rice balls, miso soup, and "zaigomori" an assortment of local Hida cuisine.
